Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was known as a TV host, ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. Burrell hosts The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her signature spiky blond hair and pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers clear, easy to learn techniques to the home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell was employed at some of the most prestigious New York restaurants and studied Italian food traditions and surroundings. She also competed in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the state of New York, Chef Burrell began to develop a love of cooking and eating at an early age. The Culinary Institute of America was a natural next step for her when she finished with the Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every minute." There was no way to be able to learn about, practice or do all the things I did. Following her graduation, Chef Burrell went on to spend one year in Italy participating in Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working for La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany. Burrell gained a greater understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions during her stay in Italy which has had an impact on her cooking style. Burrell was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that aims to make a difference in the lives of children who face problems. She is also an Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador in which she promotes an awareness campaign on juvenile diabetes. As a speaker, Burrell is on the road to share her passion for cooking and food, as well as to talk about her profession in culinary. Anne says she was incredibly fortunate having the opportunity to share her true passion with others.
